Chicago Aikikai enthusiastically welcomes back Hiroshi Ikeda Shihan (7th dan, Boulder Aikikai) for his annual three-day seminar in the Windy City, September 15 – 17, 2023. Aikido students of all levels and affiliations are welcome to register for training. Observers may watch for free.

ABOUT HIROSHI IKEDA SHIHAN
Ikeda Shihan emphasizes aikido’s internal concepts, specifically “chushin” (中心): maintaining one’s center while breaking another’s balance.
Ikeda Shihan began studying aikido in 1968 while attending Kokugakuin University in Tokyo. The next year he joined Mitsugi Saotome Shihan‘s Reimeijuku Dojo, and followed Saotome Shihan in moving to the United States in 1976, where he instructed at Sarasota Aikikai and served as Vice President of the Aikido Schools of Ueshiba (ASU). In 1980, he moved to Boulder, CO, where he established Boulder Aikikai.
Ikeda Shihan is a globally in-demand instructor, having taught hundreds of seminars around the world. He is founder of martial arts supply company Bu Jin Design and Aikido Bridge, a series of seminars to bring together students and instructors from different organizations. As of 2016 he serves as vice President of the Aikido Shimbokukai organization.
