The Chicago Aikikai has been invited by the Asian American Coalition of Chicago to demonstrate at this year’s Asian Heritage Month Celebration. Midwest Aikido Bridge Seminar

The 2020 Midwest Bridge Seminar will be held on March 20-22nd, 2020. Many of us will be heading up to the Bridge Seminar at the Milwaukee Shobukan again this year. This year will boast an additional 3 hours of classes for a total of 18 hours of instruction!

The instructor line up for this year includes:

  • Hiroshi Ikeda Shihan, 7 Dan
  • Mary Heiny Sensei, 7 Dan,
  • Lisa Tomoleoni Sensei, 6 Dan,

along with supporting instructors:

  • Andrew Vitale Sensei, 4 Dan,
  • John Gralton Sensei, 3 Dan,
  • Cat Strada Sensei, 3 Dan

We will have our regular schedule with Saturday 10 a.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. classes at Chicago Aikikai.

Tres Hofmeister Sensei Summer Seminar (Now on Zoom!)

Chicago Aikikai is pleased to announce that its Summer Seminar with Tres Hofmeister Sensei, 7d, will still be going forward, though now via Zoom. Hofmeister Sensei will teach two classes: 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm (CT) on Friday, June 5 and 10:00 am – 11:00 am (CT) on Saturday, June 6.

The Friday evening class will be followed by Zoom social and Quarantini time (Be sure to have your drinks handy!).

To register, please e-mail info@chicagoaikikai.org with “Tres Seminar” in the subject line. You will receive an e-mail with Zoom login info shortly before the start of the seminar.

No fee is required, but there is a suggested donation of $20.00. Click here to make your donation online.

Tres Hofmeister Sensei is a student of Mitsugi Saotome Shihan and Hiroshi Ikeda Shihan. He began his training in 1978 and entered Boulder Aikikai under Hiroshi Ikeda Shihan in 1980. Hofmeister Sensei is a senior instructor for Aikido Schools of Ueshiba, teaching regularly at Boulder Aikikai and at seminars throughout North America and abroad. Hofmeister Sensei is also a certified practitioner of the Feldenkrais Method®. He has a particular interest in the process of learning in Aikido and its relationship to self-understanding. Hofmeister Sensei currently lives and practices in Boulder, Colorado.

Public Transportation – Near CTA Blue Line station at Addison (10-min walk) and #80 Irving Park bus stops (East/West) at Irving Park & Elston/Monticello (4-min walk).

Southside

Driving – Harold Washington Park is at corner of 53rd Street & Hyde Park Blvd. Reachable via Lake Shore Drive at 53rd St. exit. Free/Metered parking on streets.

Public Transportation – #6 Jackson Park Express bus stops at S. Hyde Park Blvd. & E. Hyde Park Blvd. (Southbound) and S. Hyde Park Blvd. & 53rd St. (Northbound).
