Change in Instructors at Future Leaders Seminar Series Midwest

July 25, 2023 By Dwight

It was previously announced that Qin Zheng Coe would be teaching at the Future leaders Seminar Series Midwest. We just received this update from the seminar’s sponsor, Aikido Shimbokukai.

“July 30 Future Leaders seminar update!
Due to a family situation Qin Coe Sensei will unfortunately not be able to join us. Instead, also from the Chicago Aikikai and ASU, Patrick Miller Sensei will be our lead-off instructor at the event July 30.
Patrick Miller Sensei began studying aikido during his undergraduate years at Michigan Technological University under Mark Campbell-Olszewski Sensei. After graduating he continued his studies with Joe Takehara Sensei at the Chicago Aikido Club and currently trains under Marsha Turner Sensei at the Chicago Aikikai. He holds the rank of shodan and is a rotating instructor at the Chicago Aikikai. He is inspired by Turner Sensei’s use of movement, position, and posture as a means to affect change in your partner rather than strength or physicality. He believes Aikido training offers an incredible opportunity to grow and learn from people with a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and abilities. He enjoys the challenge of embodying the principles of Aikido both on and off the mat and loves those moments of realization when his teachers’ words finally make sense.”

Aikido

Aikido, the art of peace, offers a modern-day path to achieving inner balance. Rooted in the traditional disciplines of the Japanese samurai warriors - including jitsu (hand), ken (sword) and yari (spear) - Aikido is a contemporary martial art that can effectively repel any attack, but the goal is nonviolent conflict resolution.
